I have been interested in in Oiticica’s Parangolé* as flexible architectural elements, this can be compared to the way markets circuses and other ephemeral architectural devices function, in the sense that they don’t just have one way of use but they are open to improvisation and constant change.
when i came back from Barcelona – i thought – there’s 2 metro/subway maps that need updating… and those 2 are indeed Barcelona’s and Paris’s! Barcelona’s admittedly isn’t as bad as Paris’s map. But they’ve copy-cat-ed the faultless London Underground map style, without understanding that their subway maps also map out train-lines too. this makes it super confusing, esp. in a different language such as Spanish!Continue reading “re-visioning maps! nyc subway!”
