The Splasher…

The controversial Splasher.

So yeah, the Splasherrrrr. It’s about a year old in news, but I still feel like it needs a good mention. Us in the UK only really heard of it through that Banksy blahhhh of being splashed. Boo-Hoo. People ripp my work down all the time. Its like that.

So I found this amazing article about the Splasher here: http://nymag.com/news/features/32388/

And you can read their manifesto here: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/06/27/arts/design/28splasher.sidebar.html?ex=1340856000&en=b692374cc2293497&ei=5124&partner=permalink&exprod=permalink

In true Splasher speak, I do believe that yeah: we have fetishized the commodity of both streetart and contemporary art. And in revealing the commodity we reveal the bourgeoisie fad for what it stands for. Nothing more than mere white middle class brush with poverty, delinquency and creativity to stick it to the man to look cool.
